OBJECTIVE:
For this project, I critically analyzed Walter Benjamin’s essay The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction, exploring the effects of mechanical reproduction on the ‘aura’ of art. My work involved creating a scholarly response, which was accompanied by 10 typographic interpretations of Benjamin’s concepts. These interpretations spanned various mediums, including posters, apparel, and sculpture, each physically existing in the world and documented through photography. The project culminated in a physical Reflection Book, which captured the entire process, from research and creative interpretation to the installation of the work in its environment.
